Trading sessions in Spanish time (and when to trade)
The currency market is open 24 hours Monday to Friday, but volume and moves concentrate in three sessions — Asia, London and New York — and the best time to trade in Spanish hours is the London–New York overlap, between 14:00 and 17:00 CET. Trading at any hour "because the market's open" is one of the most common mistakes: some hours pay, and some just wear you down.
The three sessions in Spanish time (winter)

Note: in summer time the sessions shift an hour earlier. What matters isn't the exact minutes, but the pattern: activity grows from Asia to London and explodes when New York joins.
The golden window: the London–New York overlap
From 14:00 to 17:00 CET the world's two biggest financial centres coincide. This is where most of the daily volume concentrates, moves have follow-through (they don't start and stall) and spreads are the tightest. If your life only allows one stretch at the chart per day, make it this one. Within that window, two moments have their own character: 14:30, the usual slot for US macro data, and 15:30, the New York stock market open.
The hours worth avoiding
- The Asian session (if you trade breakouts): low volume makes many breakouts false and moves erratic.
- The US close and rollover (22:00–01:00 CET): minimal liquidity and widening spreads; a tight stop can be hit by the spread itself.
- Friday evening: volume evaporates and holding over the weekend exposes you to Sunday gaps.
Building your routine around the clock
You don't need to sit at the screen for 8 hours; you need to be there at the right hours. A simple routine: around 13:30 you check the economic calendar and mark your levels; between 14:00 and 16:30 you hunt your entry with volatility on your side; and from 17:30, you're done.
